Tyree Boyd-Pates, humanities curator of the Power to the People! festival, discusses Hip-Hop’s role in contemporary activism with Gaye Theresa Johnson, associate professor of African American Studies and Chicana and Chicano Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles; cultural critic, journalist, and activist Bakari Kitwana; and legendary rapper Rakim.

Presented in partnership with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and The Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles.
