Evening Lecture: A Closer Look at Becoming Jane

February 18, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us at NHM for after hours programming in conjunction with the special exhibition, Becoming Jane: The Evolution of Dr. Jane Goodall. Each evening will delve deeper into Jane’s inspirational work as a scientist and activist and learn how her example shaped the practices of these disciplines today. Guests will have the opportunity to tour the exhibition after hours, view unique collections, and enjoy an in-depth panel discussion with experts in the field.

February 18, 2022 – Exploring Jane’s Scientific Legacy

In February, we will learn how ethologist and activist Dr. Jane Goodall’s work with chimpanzees in Africa redefined the practices of primatology, the study of non-human primates. Where is the field of primatology today? Join us in conversation with Dr. Craig Stanford, Professor of Biological Sciences and Anthropology at USC, and Candace Sclimenti, Curator of Mammals at the L.A. Zoo, as they discuss the changes in the field and the current state of wild and captive chimpanzee colonies with moderator Patt Morrison.
